What We Do

At Progress Yoga we do yoga today so we can do yoga tomorrow. We believe in growing old with flexibility and strength. Our poses may not be perfect, our yoga clothes may be full of holes and sweat stains, our yoga blanket might be sprinkled in dog hair, but through practice we will progress.

 Progress is a win.

 Progress is the goal.

No matter where you’re starting from, we offer a class that can cultivate greater strength, flexibility, and improved balance from a nonjudgmental instructor that will only occasionally mess up their lefts and rights. Come as you are and let’s progress.

If you’ve never tried a yoga pose before. If you can’t remember where to place your foot in that one pose. If it’s been a while and you need a refresher, this class is for you. We’ll go over the poses and correct positioning so the next time your instructor calls for a Downward Facing Dog you’ll know where you are going and how to get there.

What you need for class

The only thing you need to do yoga is your body. That being said there are a few things you might want to use to help your practice along.

A yoga blanket

Yoga blankets are used both as cushions during class and also as a platform to sit on during some poses. The addition of a blanket will help you stretch more comfortably and safely. If you don’t have a traditional yoga blanket, any old 60 × 80 inch blanket will work.

A yoga mat

While not necessary, it is a nice addition to any yoga class. If you don’t have a mat, bring a blanket or a towel.

A yoga strap

Yoga straps help us deepen stretches and hold poses we may not have enough strength to hold without a strap. If you don’t have a strap, a dish towel works great!

A yoga block

A yoga block can be used as an aid in challenging stretches and poses. If you don’t have a yoga block you can use a book, a folded blanket, a piece of wood and, in some poses, even an empty travel mug works!
